Applied Investments Program
Program Overview
The Applied Investments Program (AIP) is CoBE’s most prestigious offering, consisting of the top 10 finance students managing a $1.5mm portfolio. Being selected into AIP is one of the highest honors a CoBE student can achieve and will place them on a path to the top grad schools and the most elite firms worldwide.
Benefit
AIP grants students interactions with top investment professionals, access to the best analytical tools, and Wall Street research. Students will gain experience in presenting new ideas, analyzing current holdings, conducting primary research, learning portfolio management skills, and developing a group-investment philosophy to make real buy and sell decisions.
ABout the Fund
Our student-managed investment fund (SMIF) is managed as a blended, large-cap equity fund benchmarked against the S&P 500 Index. Students are required to propose investments in the fund across the gamut of growth and value stocks in order to expose them to successful analytical techniques in a range of styles. In so doing, a secondary objective of the program is accomplished: the discernment of each student’s investment orientation.
Mission
The Applied Investment program was established at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater in 2001 for the purpose of providing CoBE students with an opportunity to gain real-world investment experience. We seek to turn the top undergraduate College of Business and Economic students into industry-grade equity research analysts.
